WBG Wireless Bore Gauge - Overview

When using a wigaugeTM WBG, it really doesn’t matter where you install the data processing system or…

The distance from the component to data processing system, can be up to 15 metres.
The cable route required to cover a linear distance of 15m could be considerably longer.

The operator is not constrained by either the need to physically access the receiving

system nor where to stand. There are no remote hand or foot switches.

This can enable a considerably more efficient layout
to the work station
or production line and often reduce
the amount of time spent manoeuvring
components
and reduce operator fatigue.

Pass / Fail indication within the wigauge TM enables
an instant decision on whether to keep the
component on the production line or remove it.

The data is sent to the receiving system with
         an audio and/or
visual confirmation that the
         data was sent.

Significant reduction in operating costs can
             be made
by increasing the efficiency of a
             workstation and it can be
done easily and
cost effectively with the new wigauge TM.

The wigauge TM was designed to work with
                most existing
PC based data processing
                systems, particularly those
using Solartron
Metrology’s Orbit system, and two point
gauge heads, making upgrades to existing
                gauge stations
easy and economical.

…where you use the gauge!

Each wigaugeTM is supplied with two rechargeable NiMH
battery packs, each capable of providing enough power to
keep the wigaugeTM going for up to 10 hours.
This is based on continuous data transmission.
The battery packs actual working period is considerably
longer under normal working conditions.

Embedded Class One V 2.1 Bluetooth
® provides a robust
and real time means of data communication between the
WBG and the receiving data processing system. Adaptive
Frequency Hopping ensures reliable communication, even
in the harsh conditions of an industrial manufacturing
environment.

The WBG is fitted with a 10mm Digital Probe that is linear
along the entire measuring range and is able to compensate
for variations in the gauge head dimensions without requiring
any adjustments.

The probe has a non repeat well within the performance of
any two point gauge head currently available on the market
and is capable of < 0.1µm resolution.

A 10mm x 0.1 fixing thread is common on most 2 point
gauge
heads for bore diameters above 15mm.

An adaptor is supplied with the wigaugeTM pack to reduce
the thread diameter to 6mm x 0.75 for bore
diameters
below 15mm, if required.

The two point bore gauge head works by the ball tips being
squeezed in as they enter the bore, pushing the pin upwards
against the probe, and is responsible for the overall accuracy
of the WBG.

The accuracy of the gauge head can be affected by the
performance of the sensor connected to it and the choice
of sensor in the wigaugeTM was very carefully considered
at the design stage.

Glass filled Nylon body for strength and durability.

The ergonomic design and textured finish ensure good grip in wet
and oily conditions.

With more than enough power for a shift, and one
battery pack on charge while the other is working,
there is never any need to run out of power.

Fast confirmation of Pass / Fail against preset
tolerances without having to look away from the
component.

Flashing Red indicator gives up to 2 hours warning
of
low battery charge.

Audio and visual indication, from Blue flashing lamp,
that data has been sent to the receiving data
processing system.

The WBG is compatible with most of the extremely
large installed base of two point gauge heads in
manufacturing engineering sites around the world.
